Little Sprouts Playgroup

Before children begin formal schooling, families can enjoy arts and crafts, music, messy play, stories, games and introductory Auslan activities. Brighton Primary School & Centre of Deaf Education runs the playgroup in the Tarni Wara building from 9 am to 10.30 am on Mondays during school time.

Brighton Centre of Deaf Education

Located with Brighton Primary School at 1 Highet Avenue, this Department for Education specialist facility supports hearing-impaired students. School, preschool and children’s centre enrolments depend on the relevant catchment arrangements and available places.

The Beachouse

Nearby in Glenelg, families can choose from heated waterslides, dodgem cars, blaster boats, mini golf and a carousel, along with a play castle and train rides for younger children. Attractions operate through a Funcard system, and individual rides have height requirements. A parent room, change rooms, lockers and lift access are available.

SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre Swimming Lessons

Children can build water confidence and survival skills through weekly 30-minute lessons at the YMCA-operated centre in nearby Oaklands Park. Enrolment is required, and lesson membership includes use of the splash park and leisure pool outside lesson times.

SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre Leisure Swimming

The centre’s leisure pool and splash park offer another option for family water play, subject to operating times and program availability. Children must enter with someone aged at least 16 and remain within arm’s-reach supervision in the water. Dive boards are limited to children aged five and over.

Parenting SA Workshops

Parents and carers across South Australia can join free, one-to-two-hour workshops and webinars from the state government’s Families Growing Together team. Topics include everyday parenting, positive guidance, child and youth development, and pathways to further support. Each session has its own booking instructions.

headspace Marion

Young people aged 12 to 25 can access free, confidential support in nearby Marion for mental health and wellbeing, physical and sexual health, work and study, and alcohol or other drug concerns. Referrals may come from young people, family members or professionals. Accessible parking, ramp access and an automatic entrance are available.
